The Research and Development Institute for the Agri-Environment (IRDA - Institut de recherche et de développement en agroenvironnement) is a non-profit research corporation, created in March 1998 by four founding members, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agri-food (MAPAQ – Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation), the Union of Agricultural Producers (UPA – L’Union des producteurs agricoles), the Department of Sustainable Development, the Environment and Parks (MDDEP – Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs) and the Department of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade (MDEIE – Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation). Our Mission The IRDA’s mission is to engage in agro-environmental research, development and transfer activities that foster agricultural innovation from a sustainable development perspective. Our Vision Our goal is to have the IRDA recognized nationally by 2016 as a leader in agro-environmental research, development and transfer activities. The IRDA distinguishes itself by its integrative approach and by the dynamism of its partners. These factors allow it to anticipate problems and develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of agricultural producers and society.
