About

Carl Boivin (agr., M. Sc., DESS) is an agronomist with a master's degree in plant biology from Université Laval. He has worked at IRDA since 2002, first as a student and then as a research assistant. He was appointed as a researcher in 2007. His research activities focus on the development of growing practices that promote the efficient use of water and nutrients. He is interested primarily in strawberry and potato crops, but also keeps an eye open for emerging crops.

Productivity of healthy looking plants that have never received nitrogen fertilizer and that are located in a blueberry field infected by stunt disease

In highbush blueberry fields where stunt disease has been detected, plants that have never received nitrogen fertilizer are more vigorous and homogeneous than plants that have received nitrogen fertilizer.
