Québec’s environmental regulations have evolved over the years and, in many cases, the burden on producers has increased. With the banning of certain long-standing practices, agricultural sectors are increasingly turning to researchers for new solutions.

Solutions for the environmental challenges

Since its founding in 1998, IRDA has pursued an ambitious mandate to prepare Québec farmers for the environmental challenges of the 21st century. IRDA’s team is developing agricultural practices and equipment to help agricultural producers meet their social and regulatory requirements.

Innovative agricultural practices introduced by IRDA help farmers to manage water usage conflicts, select appropriate fertilizers, and make prudent use of pesticides. Its experts are also involved in food safety and quality, as well as organic farming.
