About

Franz Vanoosthuyse holds a master's degree in biology from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Before joining IRDA in 2002 he held a variety of jobs, including marketing assistant, teaching assistant, and forestry fieldwork assistant at UQAM. Besides his passion for insects, Franz has acquired skills in graphic arts and layout. He is now a research assistant at IRDA and technical manager for the Integrated Fruit Production Laboratory, where he participates in research projects on entomological issues affecting apple and berry production.

In addition, as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee’s research section, he is the go-to person at the institute for questions about protection from pesticides.
